NW Staffing Walks for ALS
Over the years NW Staffing has supported many organizations as part of our connection to the community: Multiple Sclerosis bike marathons, Susan G Komen walks, CASA fundraisers, Dress for Success, food banks and local animal shelters. This fall we continue our support by participating in the Portland Metro Walk to Defeat ALS.
We were drawn to the ALS Association not only because it’s a terrible disease with no known cure, but also because NWS has a personal connection to the disease. Our founder, Patience Talcott, lost her battle with ALS in 2002, and one of our former long-time employees – who remains near and dear to us – is fighting ALS after being diagnosed last year. Fifteen people a day in the U.S. are diagnosed with ALS and, once diagnosed, the average life expectancy is only 2-5 years. So we walk to support those suffering from, or caring for someone with this horrible disease, and hope it is a step toward prevention or a cure. We hope you’ll join us-participation in the walk is free and open to everyone. Learn more and follow our efforts here.
